Kentucky musician and composer Ben Sollee has been blurring musical boundaries for nearly two decades. His latest album, Long Haul (2024), draws on influences from the American and global south, with Sollee’s distinctive cello and vocals threading through each track. The title song reflects his struggle with long-COVID, offering a universal message of resilience and self-care.
After taking a break from touring to focus on family and his Louisville, KY community, Sollee has leaned into composing, scoring films such as LAND and Maggie Morre(s), and the Peabody-nominated podcast Unreformed. He also co-founded Canopy, a non-profit supporting Kentucky businesses making a positive impact.
